Western Digital Hard Drive: Read Only ?

I have got a 320 GB Western Digital hard drive. It has been more than 2 years since I am using it. Earlier I was using this hard drive with Gateway PC whose drive was formatted according to the NTFS File system. The hard drive was really working fine until now when I purchased a Mac Book From the day I have purchased this Mac Book, I am really having a lot of problem regarding the malfunctioning of the hard drive. When I am trying to copy anything any files or data to the Western Digital hard drive, the computer says that the hard drive is Read Only. This problem was not there when I was using the Gateway PC. What should I do to get rid of this problem?
