How to avoid the clicking sound from the hard disc? ?

I have got iMac 1tb and there seems to be some problem with the hard drive. I have Seagate hard drive and its model number is ST31000324ASQ. When I am working, strange clicking sound emanates from the hard disc. I have known through people that when the hard drive is about to fail, it gives symptoms like this. Earlier the sound was coming very seldom but these days this strange clicking sound occurs after every 1 minute. However the system does not freeze and the noise continues no matter whether the disc power saving feature is enabled or not. The strange sound is coming from the left side of the track pad. I hear that it is a very common problem these days with Apple Mac book. Should I be worried or should ask the dealer from where I purchased the laptop. Or is there any solution through which I can avoid this clicking sound? Kindly suggest.
