Somebody help me out from broken hard disc of Mac ?

Couple of days ago, I was watching a video on my computer. Out of the blue, the computer suddenly froze. I then switched off the computer and then when I started once again then I was getting only the blue screen. I did not know what to do, so I tried to boot it in a safe mode but even that did not work. The blue screen continues to come. I have lost the hard disc and I can think of how to repair it. I have some of my important office work stored in that disc and I am due to make a presentation on it in a few weeks time. Can somebody help me out of this mess and tell me how the broken hard disc be fixed?
