Xsan is a storage area network (SAN) or clustered file system for Mac OS X . It is an architecture in which remote computer storage devices like (tape libraries, disk arrays, optical juke box etc.) are attached in such a way that devices appear to as locally attach to the operating system.   • Mac OS X or Mac OS X Server v10.5.8 or 10.6 or later.
  • Mac OS X Server requires MDC if you are using Xsan to manage users and group.
  • Xsan 2.0, 2.1, 2.1.1 or 2.2.

Hardware prerequisite to install this software updates are –

  • Xserver with Mac Pro or Intel processor.
  • 2GB RAM + 2GB per volume for MDC.
  • 2GB RAM for Xsan client.
  • Apple Fiber Channel Card.
